RISE Educational Resource Center is open to all students, whether they attend public, charter, alternate school or are home-schooled. This facility offers classes and events for all ages.
Love Dog Adventures will offer unique programming, beginning in January 2012.
RISE is located at 3460 North Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89120 in the Advent Methodist Church – enter through the playground
READING CIRCLES WITH THE LOVE DOGS – join a Reading Circle with your favorite Delta Society Pet Partner “Love Dog” and spend an hour reading a new story or book, learning about “your” dog and being a part of a Circle to encourage one another. There will be writing projects as well as creating our own stories.
READING WITH THE LOVE DOGS - it has been found that reading to a well-trained dog can not only improve literacy but inspire the child to continue reading on their own. Register to be paired with a Canine Literacy Mentor and spend several weeks reading with YOUR dog. This is a one-on-one opportunity and regstration in advance is required.
Sessions are held on Tuesdays at 1:00 – 2:00 pm at RISE.
EVERYTHING DOG HUMANE EDUCATION CLASS -
Learn how to be responsible pet owners and how to view the world through the eyes of a dog – discussions include various breeds and their characteristics, how to choose the right dog for your family, basic tips for getting your dog off on the right foot in your home, “do dogs have feelings” and “everything dog.”
Week 1; Tuesday, January 8, 2013 – The different Breeds and how to choose the right dog for your family
Week 2: Tuesday, January 15 – How to care for your dog – be a responsible dog owner
Week 3: Tuesday, January 22 – What positive dog training is all about – Tips for the Best Behaved Dog
Week 4: Tuesday, January 29 – Dog Speak – how to understand what your dog is telling you!
For ages 7 and up / Each class is $5.00 per child.
