Coco photos

These photos are not posed

When I adopted my dogs I never consciously looked for dogs like ones that have been in my life before. Things just seem to occur at a moment when life intertwines and the right dogs find me.

One week after Coco passed away, Benny came to us. When I adopted Benny he looked nothing like Coco. He was so different. But over time they seemed to morph into such similar dogs.

The same thing is happening with Kirby and Petey.

Petey came to me the week we lost Kirby.

They were pretty similar both being small grey poodles.

But Petey had no teeth and was much smaller than Kirby.

And his facial shape was very different.

But now they look so similar if I don’t name the photos I can’t tell them apart!

I don’t know why this happens but I do know I choose dogs based solely upon personality and temperament, not looks.

I look in their eyes and look for that spark that says “I need to work. I need to be with people. I need to learn.”

This really is Petey!

This really is Petey!

So when I now look back on the early photos of Benny and put them side by side with Coco, and look at Petey and remember Kirby, I know there is so much more helping me create my family each and every time.

This is Petey - can you believe it?

The right dogs always find us, even when we are not looking.

One year ago today …

One year ago today we lost Coco.

It’s a day to celebrate her incredible life, not be sad.

Coco taught us how to overcome challenges.

Coco taught us how to share with others.

Coco taught us how to cherish every moment of every day.

Coco taught us all how to love big.

One year ago today we lost Coco.

One year ago we also learned how strong Kirby is.

Kirby showed us how one dog can ease another through the toughest times.

Kirby showed us how one dog can raise the spirit of one sad human.

Kirby is the most loving dog

Kirby is the most loving dog

Kirby showed us how to be brave and rise to the challenge of becoming Top Dog.

One year ago today we lost Coco.

One year ago we also met Benny.

Benny , the boy who couldn’t bond.

Benny , the boy who couldn’t love.

Benny, the boy who couldn’t find a home.

Benny, the boy who would change all of our lives.

Through the joy and love of Coco’s life two others were saved just in our home alone. She started the chain and it will continue far beyond Kirby and Benny’s lives. Coco’s life inspired so many others to seek out special dogs and give them loving homes and in many cases, give them  a job … the job Coco so loved.

Every day Benny tries to be a good dog

Every day Benny tries to be a good dog

Coco continues to motivate, Kirby continues to share and Benny continues to learn.

So today is not a sad day in our home. It is a day for celebration.
