On behalf of the Love Dogs and Pet Partners I am honored to have been chosen as February’s Shining Star by Fox 5 News. This monthly award recognizes an individual in Las Vegas who serves their community.
The evening news anchor, Olivia Fierro, came to our adopted school to film one of our bully classes and then interviewed me about what Love Dogs is all about.
We had seven dogs in the classroom and once again we heard comments from the crew such as “I can’t believe the dogs are so calm.”
Olivia really appreciated how we integrate the dogs into the lesson and reach the children through the eyes and experiences of the animals.
From there we all drove to Fairway Chevrolet for the award presentation. And we had a few more dogs join us there! We packed the dealership showroom with dogs!
Love Dogs received a very generous monetary award and a beautiful trophy and everyone thoroughly enjoyed meeting the volunteers and dogs.
We had with us our largest Love Dog, George and our smallest, Petey, as well as our youngest human volunteer, Dani.
We invited Julian and his mom and brother to join us as well and we got to have them share the experience with us.
This recognition of the unique programming we provide to the community is greatly appreciated.
Every single day volunteer handlers and their animals go out into the field harnessing the power of the animals in educational and therapeutic settings, improving lives one paw at a time.
Thank you Fox 5 News, Fairway Chevrolet and all the Love Dogs for this special honor.
The Shining Star segment will air Thursday, January 30 during the 10:00 pm Fox 5 News hour.
On Friday, February 1 it will be posted at http://www.fox5vegas.com/category/266724/shining-star.
